TO:  All Media

FROM:  “Andy” Kotner, President, San Diego County Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) -- (619) 295-6059

RE: The CALA Annual Luncheon featuring Best-selling Author Joseph Wambaugh

WHAT:           San Diego CALA’s annual luncheon event, this year featuring award-winning and best-selling author Mr. Joseph Wambaugh.  Mr. Wambaugh will have much to share as keynote speaker – including lawsuits against true crime writers, (including himself), show business and police work.  The event will also honor local high school students who are winners of an essay contest on “Supersize It! Suing the Fast Food Industry – Where Does Personal Responsibility End and a Lawsuit Begin?”

The event will also feature a special presentation detailing recent developments around the State in the fight against lawsuit abuse and a report on how information from San Diego CALA supporters started the State’s first known criminal investigation into the filing of ADA/access lawsuits!

WHEN:           Friday, June 15th 2005

11:00 am: Registration & Business Trade Show

                        12:00 pm (sharp!) - 1:30 pm: Program & Luncheon

WHERE:        Town & Country Convention Center

500 Hotel Circle North - Mission Valley

WHO:

·        Joseph Wambaugh, Award Winning, Best Selling Author

·        David Warren Peters, Lawyers Against Lawsuit Abuse

·        Andy Kotner, President, San Diego County CALA

·        Erika Palmer, Valedictorian, Rancho Bernardo High School

·        Parisima Roshanzamir, Miss City of San Diego

WHY:              Lawsuit Abuse has a drastic negative impact upon everyone in our society, not just those involved in the lawsuit.  Many businesses close their doors, retailers must raise their prices to offset lawsuit expenses.  This event is being held to show the public that this abuse and similar abuse in the legal system is transforming the system into a moneymaker for lawyers, while negatively impacting consumers, jobs and the state’s economy.
